Awards

I have this thing with technology.  You see, it doesn’t love me.  I recently was able to switch phones and received my first picture text EVER on Wednesday.  However, this lovely purple-clad electronic device knows more about life in 2014 than I do.  And the mere fact I have this blog is a wonder, I spent the first week near tears with a large bottle of Merlot on my left, coffee pot on my right and fingers twisted in abnormal positions from clicking the ‘help’ button to many times.  I think I may have eaten an unhealthy amount of ice cream as well.  I say that to say this, I was nominated for an award by one of my favorite new bloggers, Fourth Generation Farm Girl, she had me at ‘wool and wine’.  But as I read all the things you must do to stay within the rules I found myself a bit overwhelmed.  So please forgive me and my pea brain, we just can’t function that well yet.  However, since I didn’t have a post for today I thought it would be fun to answer the questions she left for me.  Forgive me.

Here they are:

1.  Why did I start to blog?

I began blogging for several reasons.  For one thing I live in a tiny house with a small girl, a teenage boy and a husband who likes to rope and hunt which means my creative free space amounts to zero.  All I need to blog is a laptop and camera.  Yay!  I also found myself getting in a bit of a personal, daily rut.  Same thing over and over each day.  By blogging, and committing to my “Wicked Walks” each week, I force myself to crawl out of my shell.  And last but not least, I love the Pioneer Woman.

2.  What is your earliest memory?

Not quite sure but I think is it walking across the bridge on my grandfather’s farm with my Uncle Josh and my mom.  It was the fall and I was bundled up and we all walked across the bridge together.  Maybe that is why I still love to walk in the woods……

3.  Who has been your greatest influence?

My mom has undoubtedly had more influence on my life than any other single person.  Hi mom.

4.  What is my favorite film?

Good Lord, that is hard.  Until I was in my late teens I would have said “The Sound of Music”.  “Mamma Mia”, “Out of Africa” and “The Bridges of Madison County” are all up there together now that I’m in my 30’s.  Which I guess means I have a weird girl-crush on Meryl Streep.

5.  Which phrase do you most over-use?

“I’m sorry”.  I say it about everything from other people’s bad manners to the weather to ugly chickens to my lack of knowledge on any given subject.  I am always “sorry”.

6.  What make you happy?

Musicals.  Hot coffee.  Walks in the woods.  Hugs from my daughter.  Sleeping under old quilts in cold weather.  Rainy days.  Cooking.  Eating.  Watching things grow.  Chickens.  Time alone.  Silence.  Reading.  Traveling.  Seeing my family.  Swings.  Naps.  A clean house.

7.  What disturbs you?

Horror films.  Scary books.  Clowns.  Dirty Dishes.  Clean-yet-unfolded laundry.  Confrontation.  Waste.  Weight gain.

8.  Who would you most like to come to dinner?

Hugh Jackman.  Maybe I could convince him to sing.  If not I could just stare at him while he eats.

9.  What is your favorite book?

The Bible we will put at the top of my non-fiction list.  Fiction……Count of Monte Cristo by Alexandre Dumas, Giant by Edna Ferber, Love is a Wild Assault by Elithe Hamilton Kirkland and Ben-Hur by Lew Wallace.  Again, I can’t choose just one.

10.  What is your most treasured possession?

Since you can’t really posses relationships or people…….my most treasured possession would be the ivory elk tooth necklace my husband had made for me from the first elk I ever harvested.  It is beautiful and irreplaceable and I haven’t taken it off since he gave it to me.

11.  What would most improve the quality of your life?

I’ll be honest and say…..a larger balance in my check book.  Everything else is pretty darn good!  😉

Now.  You all know me a bit better.   Have a great Monday y’all!  And I’m sorry I didn’t do the award thing right.  But I still love you!  And because I love you, here is Hugh Jackman.  Again.

  1. Congratulations on your award. If it makes you feel any better, I still have a problem with links and other technical things on a computer. 🙂 You gave me a laugh about staring at Hugh Jackman while he ate dinner at your house.

  2. You lost me at Hugh as I do not have anything going for staring at bearded guys or any guy for that matter! Well, there is man love in my life but it’s because I enjoy discussing God, trucks, guns and the latest recipe for deer jerky while keeping distance between me and one of my favorite male friends! Oh we give it the side way hug if it’s been awhile but that happens quick! Haha! I share many of your likes so you’re cool! Keep posting the good stuff!
