Girl on a Swing

I haven’t thought much about swinging lately. Swinging like in a swing not ……..never mind. Anyway. My grandparents used to have this huge tire swing behind their barn, it was made from a tractor tire and was held in the massive Blackjack Oak by a grass rope that looked like it came off the Titanic. A serious rope for a serious swing. I remember flying thru the air, completely weightless and completely giddy. I haven’t felt weightless and giddy since. At least not at the same time. However, I watched Addie swinging at a friends house recently and remembered, if only for a moment, how it felt. I thought I’d share the moment with you.

Ready to fly....and make a fashion statement. Or not.

Ready to fly….and make a fashion statement. Or not.

Now up, baby, up!

Now up, baby, up!

To the left...

To the left…

...to the left!

…to the left!

Now up, baby, up!

Now up, baby, up!

To the right...

To the right…

...to the right....

…to the right….

Now up, baby, up!

Now up, baby, up!

Is my early 90's upbringing showing? Sorry.

Now Slide….. (Is my early 90’s upbringing showing? Sorry.)

I wish I was this little!

I wish I was this little!  Or that the swing was bigger.

Here my darling child looks headless. A bit frightening...

Here my darling child looks headless. A bit frightening…

Here, she looks as if she has only one leg.

Here, she looks as if she has only one leg.

Whew, all in one piece!

Whew, all in one piece!

You know what I think?  I think we should all go find a swing and do a little flying ourselves this weekend.  You with me?  Blue socks and cowboy boots not required.

Have a great 4th of July everyone, now get swinging!

🙂
