Wicked Walk

My walk was a bit different this past Wednesday June, 25th.  I was (don’t laugh!) chicken sitting for a good friend so she could go on vacation with her family.  Well, chicken sitting includes ducks, parrots, cockatiels, guinea pigs, 3 small dogs and 1 very large dog.  So I took advantage of being someplace new and walked the trails on their small farm.

Here is what I saw.

I have tree/bush envy by the way. I suffer from it

I have tree/bush envy by the way. I suffer from it daily.

When I look at this bush thru the lens it reminded me of a snowstorm. Which is kinda a funny thing since it is June in Texas.....

I was going to take a picture of this pretty mushroom and I spied a snail!

worm worm

I love earthworms but you don’t see them crawling around in the day very often.  It has been flooding pretty much all week.  Perfect worm weather.

Fungi, much like the worms, love this weather!

They pretty much took over this tree…..

Mushroom!

pine needle

As I was walking along I noticed suddenly everything was silent, including my footsteps.  Looking down I saw I was on a path of wet pine needles.  These silent footsteps made me think about Indians.  Caddo Indians (those native to our part of the state) must have been the quitest Indians EVER.  ‘Cause I KNOW if I can walk in silence they must have been beyond silent.  If there is such a thing as beyond silent.  The point is there was no noise.

Raccoon Track. I hate raccoons.

I look forward to chicken sitting again.  🙂

  1. You’re welcome to come chicken sit any time! Great pics! I didn’t even know about the morning glory out in the woods, though this time of year I do tend to be inside more. Still, that was a really nice week for photos with all of the rain. P.s. that coon has been…eliminated. He is no longer a chicken threat as of this week. 😉
