Crime Scene

When I began my blogging adventure I made a vow to keep things happy, fun and short. However. However there was a crime committed in Maydelle this week. Actually a string of crimes.

There was a break-in….

I first noticed the tin pulled back when I went to check the eggs. Then I saw the feathers.

A kidnapping….

I began mourning when I saw for sure it was my older blue silkie whose life was surely cut short.

A murder…..

The trail of fluffy feathers going into the woods removed all doubt..

And an attempted murder.

Which led to me playing Turkey doctor.

Poor Turk, Turk.

Thankfully his wound was no worse than this. I'm sure he will recover nicely.

Addie was the first to spot his wound and I’m sure it was pretty comically watching me attempt to catch him.  Young turkeys are really strong by the way.  This is the second wounded fowl I’ve had this year.  The other was a chick who survived a coon invasion 2 months ago.  After a week of living in the laundry room and receiving top-notch medical care she made an excellent recovery although she will never to able to fly very well.  I am sure a coon is to blame for this tragedy as well.  Country living is tough sometimes.

So Goodbye Silk-Silk.  See you on the other side.
