Wicked Walk 4/29/2015

The last Wednesday in April was cool, clear and glorious!  All I had to do that day was see the dentist at 2:00 plus run some small errands.  So I took it upon myself to go up to the main section of the state forest surrounding our home for a lengthy, leisurely, restful walk. Here…

Wicked Walk 4/22/2015

I scurried out late Wednesday April 22nd and fought the mosquitoes yet again.  Still, all was lovely. Here is what I saw. Flowers EVERYWHERE! And I wish I could send you the heavenly smell I inhaled!  The honeysuckle is everywhere and blooming like mad. Okay, bonus points for all who can spot the butterfly! 1,…

Wicked Walk 4/15/2015

April 15th.  Tax day in the states, yet having mine turned in with 48 hours to spare, I was able to walk in peace. Here is what I saw. At the end of our driveway, in the morning sun, a plain purple flower seemed quite glamorous to me. And some little spiders have been mighty…

Show Time!

The Cherokee County Junior Livestock Show was a highlight of my youth from the time I was around 8 years old until I was 17.  I showed broilers, of course. Always held in late March the weather is cold, windy and wet but never enough to dampen the lively atmosphere and contagious excitement of hundreds…

Wicked Walk 3/11/2015

I’m not sure what is has been like in your neck of the woods but here in deep east Texas it has been raining.  And raining.  And raining.  We have had a river flood warning for 6 days in a row.  It is perfectly silly.  I walked on this day in tall muck boots and…

Kitty

I was recently working at a feed store in Nacogdoches, Texas.  There was a beautiful smoke-colored kitty there.  I’d like to introduce you to him. Her. It. Okay, so we didn’t get that close, but IT sure is pretty! Every feed store needs a cat and this one fits the bill perfectly. Happy Friday y’all!

Wicked Walk 2/4/2015

Wednesday March 4th was a bit odd.  Not only did I go to Nacogdoches (almost an hour drive) to work at a feed store for the day, the lovely 80 degrees we were enjoying (if you recall last week my walk featured snow, AH!) dropped to 40 in a two-hour time period.  And it rained…

Old Friends

Some things get worse with age.  Onions, potatoes, garlic, computers, grey hair, flab, swimming pools and Wal-Mart’s.  Just to name a few.  Other things get better with age.  Wine, certain cheeses, men, movies (with Hugh Jackman, Robert Redford, Julia Andrews, Charlton Heston and Meryl Streep.  Obviously, not all on the same film), books and true…

Elk Camp 2014 – Part One

Elk Camp was very unique this year.  Every year is special in its own way but this was one for the books, I think there may be a poorly rated, low-budget Lifetime movie in the works someday soon but until then I’ll just give you the pleasant high-lights and leave the rest for your imagination. …
