I’m not sure what is has been like in your neck of the woods but here in deep east Texas it has been raining. And raining. And raining. We have had a river flood warning for 6 days in a row. It is perfectly silly. I walked on this day in tall muck boots and a slicker. You can see how much I love you, my readers, by this. Otherwise I’d have stayed in bed and not peered outside all day. I’m glad I didn’t!
Here is what I saw.
The bluebird of happiness. It was flying away but no matter.
Because this rain-dotted moss was right underneath!
No matter the weather I can pretty much count on moss, fungi and little vines!
And the train trestle, I don’t think its going anywhere.
I was thinking on this and studying the fungi when I spotted this HUGE slug!
He was perfectly awesome and like a true gentleman, very shy!
He’d BARELY poke both eyes out at the same time! I felt like I was in Epic! Only I don’t want to be known as a stomper.
You have no idea what I’m talking about? Then you must not have wee urchins. Great movie, Epic.
Like a modern day Fern Gully only less scary and less depressing.
The thistle, a good 40 paces from the creek bank, is meanwhile drowning.
Not here either. That flag is marking a tree we planted 4 years ago. A LONGGGGG way from the creek.
All the dampness makes for great fungi growth though!
And check out this vine below!
I felt like I was gripping the arm of a baby Bigfoot!
They SAY he lives around here ya’ know….
I think those Bigfoot hunters even did a show down at the river a few years ago.
Sorry Guys, I think you were seeing vines!
I then saw my food plot…..
The clover I planted seems to love it though!
And look! The bluebird of happiness came back!
Maybe we are gonna make it after all!
Thanks for walking with me today, until next time!
Stay warm, stay dry and don’t let the bird of paradise fly up your nose!

Thank you! Yes, the rain had been crazy, wish I could send you some. I’m not sure about the leopard slug but this was one of the biggest I’ve ever seen! 🙂
