I haven’t posted a recipe in awhile, not because I haven’t cooked or consumed any food. No, my winter layer of warmth is coming along quite nicely thanks to rolls, truffles, cake balls and stew. Not all eaten together of course. I’ve just been lazy. BUT I want to share with you the fastest, most simple salad I have ever made. Not only is it fast and simple, it is delicious! And pretty. Fast, simple, delicious and pretty. I got the recipe from a friend who had gotten it from a friend, Mrs. Din Wilson. I made it for Thanksgiving and I am making it for the Sunday School Christmas party. You can throw this entire thing together in less than 10 minutes, and while it is supposed to sit for 24 hours before serving….well. Some rules were made to be broken! So here it is, Mrs. Din Wilson’s 24 Hour Salad.
Anytime you begin with Jet-Puffed Mini Marshmallows it is bound to be good!
Just throw them in a large bowl,
Just be sure and drain the cans first.
When you buy the cherries make sure they are the dark, sweet ones. And I like to leave just a little juice, that gives the entire salad a festive, pink tone!
Cut the grapes in half and toss them in as well.
Last but not least, add the sour cream!
Stir it all together until well mixed, cover and chill 24 hours.
This recipes is very forgiving so feel free to add or omit fruit according to your taste buds. Just don’t omit the marshmallows, that would defeat the purpose and make it much to healthy to be a holiday salad.
Mrs. Din Wilson 24 Hour Salad
1 large package mini-marshmallows
2 cans Mandarin Oranges, drained
1 can crushed Pineapple, drained
1 can Fruit Cocktail, drained
1 can dark, sweet Cherries, drained
2 cups flaked coconut
2 cups green, seedless grapes, halved
1 pint sour cream
Mix together and let sit, covered in the fridge, for 24 hours. Serve in a pretty bowl to happy family members.

Oh my goodness, the salad reminds me of one my mother used to make. I know I would like your version. 🙂
